Araminta Greaves Fibreista is going to be a bit different in 2025. Although I had a great time at lots of fibre and yarn shows last autumn, I have decided that this year, the only event I will be participating in will be Cornwall Open Studios at the end of May.
Cornwall Open Studios 2025
Open Studios Cornwall has suffered a funding cut and the event was, unfortunately cancelled. Thankfully, an amazing group of energetic people have taken on the task of running the event for 2025. You will need to look out for a new, blue logo and notice that the name is now Cornwall Open Studios. There is a brand new website where participants can, not only give their details but also list examples of work for sale. I am populating this part of the site but there is still much to do.
I am delighted to announce that The Spinnery will be open 11am to 5pm each day from Saturday 24th May until Sunday 1st June, inclusive. My Saori loom will be dressed and ready for everyone to come and contribute to the communal cloth. Last year’s cloth will be displayed so if you contributed last year, come and see your work in the context of the whole cloth. I will have lots to say about Open Studios a bit nearer the time. Meanwhile, if you are missing my fabulous fibres, read on.
Stockists
All the fun of the fibre fair at Zebediah’s.
This year I am continuing to stock the wonderful treasure trove that is Zebediah’s Art and Craft Collective in Launceston, Cornwall. Hand spun yarn, dyed fibre, merino in all my colourways and carded batts are available here along side an ever changing display of larger artworks, prints, cards and hand woven scarves, shawls and wraps.
A range of my fibre goodies are also available from the lovely Sue at Yarns of Holsworthy. Sue also hosts my workshops from time to time. So if Holsworthy is in reach for you, let her know what you are interested in doing and we can arrange it. Sue is contactable via Yarns of Holsworthy on Facebook
Prints, cards, cowls and small needlefelt pictures are available from The Misses Lobb in Wadebridge. A mother and daughter team run this fantastic shop. They do the most beautiful upcycled furniture, refreshed and beautified with Frenchic paints. Sharron and Zoe also help several creatives to organise and promote workshops in Wadebridge.
I would love to find some more stockists, so let me know if you have a local yarn shop, craft shop or art gallery that you think might be a good fit for my little business. It doesn’t have to be in Cornwall!
Workshops
I will continue to offer workshops throughout 2025. If you would like to host a workshop for your group or for friends, please get in touch. Workshops can be a lovely addition to birthday celebrations or just a really nice way to spend time with friends. I am just about to book the Betjeman Centre in Wadebridge for a wet felt seascape workshop in the spring. Keep an eye on my newsletters for more details as plans are confirmed.
Social Media
Another big change, though possibly bigger in my head rather than in actuality, is that I am taking a step away from social media. I really think that it has become more like anti-social media and is likely to get a lot worse over the next few years. I would prefer to communicate with you lovely people in an environment where the content is non political, positive and not interfered with by AI. Writing here on my website, is another aspect of my creative work. Therefore all content will be created solely by me. I will not be drawing on content generated by Artificial Intelligence. The ideas, hints and tips that I share here will come from my personal experience and as a result of my creativity and creative processes. They will be tried and tested and not harvested from others without consent.
In 2025 I intend to blog instead of sharing on social media. If you want to know what I am up to, sign up to my newsletter using the form at the bottom of this page as I will be using that to alert you lovely people to new posts here as well as upcoming workshops and website updates. I welcome comments here on the blog just as I would on Instagram or Facebook, so do please engage and let’s make a little community of fibre friends here.
Creative Projects
I have no fewer than five different creative projects that I would like to start work on this year. Some of them will be relatively short term but some are going to take a couple of years to complete. I will be introducing each one and documenting progress here on the blog, so if you are interested in different felting techniques, incorporating stitching and beading into your work and turning concepts into fibre art, come here and follow along with me.
