Fine Art Giclee Print of Cookworthy Knapp
Affectionately known as ‘The Nearly There Trees’, Cookworthy Knapp is a stand of over 100 beech trees at the side of the A30 which welcomes people into Cornwall. It has become an iconic view and was featured by the BBC in an article ‘The Landmarks That Mean You Are Nearly Home‘ along with the Angel of the North and Glastonbury Tor.
The Coming Home Trees.
The real name of this stand of trees, ‘Cookworthy Knapp’, is relatively unknown because people usually refer to it as ‘The Coming Home Trees’ or the ‘Nearly There Trees’. As with so many things in life, it depends on your perspective.
I am lucky enough to be able to view Cookworthy Knapp as ‘The Coming Home Trees’ having made the move to Cornwall back in the early 1990s. The copse has been an inspiration to me for several works including the felt panel pictured at the top of this post which is available as a limited editon, fine art Giclee print.
Greetings Cards
‘Cookworthy Knapp’ has also inspired me to create two very popular needle felt designs. I have chosen to make these designs available as greetings cards perfect for sending news to and from Cornwall. The cards are blank inside so there is plenty of room for your news. The wonderful Phil and Sue at Southgate Studios, a stone’s throw away from Cookworthy Knapp in Launceston, have professionally printed the cards for me . These two designs of cards are available from my shop either singly, in packs of four of the same design, or included in variety packs of five Cornish designs. You can click on the images below to view the cards in my shop. You can avoid the need for plastic wrapping by buying cards on line from independent businesses like mine. The cards don’t need to be protected from lots of customers browsing through them. Not that you needed another reason to support small, artisan businesses!
